The internet makes it possible for people to get to know each other who would have otherwise never even met due purely to logistics.
Such is the case for my new acquaintance, Virginie Bélanger.
I have never physically met her. My sister cyberspacely introduced us a few months ago.
This lady just makes me smile.
Her blog, Virginie's Cinéma, is to put it way too simply....inspiring and F-U-N.
Her sense of style and the way she so effortlessly puts things together...well...speaks for itself...and the fact that she was inspired by Ann of Green Gables makes my heart warm..not because I personally loved Ann, but because my sister did..and so somehow that makes us all connected.
She just makes me want to get my shit together and do something BIG..however small it may be.
Virginie was kind enough to take some time out of her busy life...as a producer, director, film-maker, photographer...and the list goes on....to answer a few questions so I could share.
Merci ma belle Virginie:-) Un jour on fera un rendez-vous chez Frenchy's!
As a little girl growing up in Canada, who did you look up to as far as fashion goes?
Ann of Green Gables was a huge inspiration to me as a young girl. I really wanted to dress like her and loved long dresses, little boots and lace like A LOT! My 11th birthday party was themed as Avonlea and everyone had to dress like a Lucy Maud Montgomery character…
In 4 words describe your style.
Girly creative movie geek!
Where do you find most of your fashion inspiration?
I get really inspired by blogs and movies. Inspiration to me comes from a feeling or little detail that entices my imagination. My biggest source of inspiration style wise these days is French blogger Valentine.
Your blog, Virgine's Cinema, exudes passion for life. How do you stay so positive in this crazy world? I try to marvel at all the little things that make everyday magic and enjoy all accomplishments and dreams come true, while always remembering that it’s all about the process! I make sure my everyday life makes me grow and I smile a lot, seems to be contagious! Being happy is a choice we should all make.
Tell us a little more about what people can find in your blog, Virginie’s Cinema.
Virginie’s Cinema is a blog about leading a creative lifestyle! I post about personal style but also about my movie making adventures (I am a movie producer), about the art of enjoying life and about accomplishing our dreams and following our heart.
Has your husband, Ramiro, influenced your sense of style in any way? If yes, do share! Hmmm… Let’s say he doesn’t really care about personal style and is pretty blasé about fashion, he likes my creativity and encourages it but always prefers me in skinny jeans, a tight sweater and nice shoes (or whatever displayss the curves nicely!). I feel like I am exiting a very girly phase in my personal style and might be entering a more androgynous Annie Hall phase, I think he’ll enjoy that!
It's cold up there in Canada non? How do you stay warm and still look so hot! Cold doesn’t even start to describe it (as you know!!). It’s even colder (and snowier) in Québec city where I currently live so I layer a lot, I wear a lot of organic materials (cotton, wool and fur) and I just keep on smiling! I think if you live in a colder climate, you need to have great basics you really love and that keep you warm and dry, like a Saturday coat with a great cut and a pair of all weather boots that you find cute.
Favorite fashionable movie...or favorite movie costume? I love so many movies, I’m no sure where to start! I adore all Brigitte Bardot, she is my favorite movie icon, I am a fan of all her films, they are always a great fashion inspiration! As is pretty much the whole French New Wave era for me clothes (and art) wise. From a fashion point of view I also love Factory Girl (Edie Sedwick is such a tragic fashion icon) and The Virgin Suicides (my wedding dress was inspired by the sister’s prom dresses).
Do you have a favorite place to shop?
I love shopping online the absolute most! There is so much more choice and it’s always open! My favorites are ModCloth, Threadsence and Asos. I also thrift shop a lot and wildly encourage it, it’s creative, inexpensive and green! I secretly dream of shopping at Frenchy’s with you and Georgette
What is your fashion statement...the one you live by?
Beauty is an attitude! Live so that your inside beauty shines on the outside.

NicoChic has been nominated for the Top 25 Fashion and Beauty Moms for 2012....oh gosh....fashion...beauty...I'm not quite sure I fit, but I'll just go ahead and pretend they meant ''has a full closet of shit she doesn't wear'' and ''never wears make-up''....those make sense. A-n-y-h-o-w, if you wish to vote just click HERE and click on the thumbs up. That's it. Over and out.

I feel so blessed blogging has connected us, while movie making connected me to Georgette! The universe works in magical ways. Thanks so much for having me over :)
The best week-end to the whole clan!
