In Which We Trap Leprechauns! Thursday, March 15 2012

So this past Saturday I'm laying in bed “relaxing” with Emmylou and Joseph when in walks Luke perplexed and a little worried asking, “Mom, is it St. Patrick's day today?”

“No.” I replied.

“Oh, THANK GOD!” he answered with a sigh of relief.

Not knowing the dangers or the doom that is St. Patrick's day, I quickly asked, “Why are you so worried about St.Patrick's day?”...

To which he answered matter of factually, “ Well, MOM, on St. Patrick's day we have to hide all our toys because the leprechauns are going to steal all of them!”

Emmylou quickly interjected, “ LUKE, there are no leprechauns in this village!!”

Seeing that this conversation was about to erupt I interrupted.

“First of all Emmylou, last time I checked these are not medieval times and we live in a city not a village, and second of all, there's no need to worry...all the leprechauns live in Ireland!”

Totally dissatisfied with my answer, they decided it was safer to concoct a plan.

Luke - “We should put all our toys in our rooms then lock the door!”

Emmylou- “But our bedroom doors don't lock Luke!”

Luke- “Oh, yeah you're right! Uhmm...”

Emmylou - “Well, maybe if we put them in our closets they won't find them!”

That went on for a while until Luke finally had an epiphany!

Luke- “LET'S BUILD A TRAP SO WE CAN CATCH THE LEPRECHAUNS AND GET THEIR POT OF GOLD!”

Emmylou...and Joseph (who finally decided to chime in)- “YES!!!!!”

Here's a little synopsis of their plan. It starts in French then ends in English....peppered with Joseph's appreciation for PopTarts and his realization that his is indeed messy.

And here it is!...with a little help from the leprechaun trap expert, papa. (The flower is strategically placed to entice the leprechauns. Apparently leprechauns have an affinity for felt flowers.)

Those leprechauns (or LEPERS...as Joseph calls them) don't have a clue what they have coming!

This is not me. It's Donna Reed. But this is what I look like in my head when I'm just sitting around in my living room.
