(I don't know if this expression actually exists out there..if not, it's mine and you saw it here first!)
A music elitist is a person who thinks that the music that they choose to listen to is incontestably the very best music on earth. If you do not share their taste in music, they judge and belittle yours even though they would not be able to tell the difference between a Slash and Jimmy Page guitar solo.
In middle-school, being a relatively insecure 13 year old, I was very intimidated by these people. I recall putting on my plaid flannel shirt and my oversized corduroy pants pretending to really be into Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, when in reality I really wanted to be booty shakin' and rapping the words to Snoop's Ain't No Fun.
(For the record, I now really enjoy Smells Like Teen Spirit. Like fine wine, my tastes vary with time:-))
I don't know why music elites feel the need to be snobs.
Music is art and, in my opinion, appreciation for art is something that is totally subjective.
My love of Lil Wayne is just as valid as your love of The Grateful Dead.
So anyway, here's the playlist. And, to all you music elitists cockily frowning as you read these song titles....SUCK IT!
