If you're a mom and you've never experienced this moment, or some version of it, then chances are you've somehow birthed mute kittens...
Spreading The Love Sunday, May 06 2012
So, my post-festival funk has, for the most part, dissipated.   Which leaves me in the mood to spread a little love.   These past few years, with the continuing evolving of the internet, so many opportunities have opened up and so many good things have come out of it.   Blogging is something I had never really thought about until about a year ago. I didn't really understand the concept of a blog. Is it a website? Who are these ''bloggers''? Who has time for blogs anyway?..
As you may recall, a few weeks before I ran the New Orleans Rock-N-Roll Marathon, I hurt my back.   So, I went to the doctor.   One of the routine questions they ask is of course the date of your last pap smear. Not even being able to recall what I had for breakfast I answered, ''Uh, not sure...must have been last year I suppose..I have one every year...right?...''.   She looked at me like the scatter brain that I was and said she would check with my OB/GYN. At the end of my appointment she informed me that my last pap smear had been in 2009. I quickly counted on my fingers because that's how I do math and realized it had been 3 years since my last pap smear.   Where does the time go right?...
Fini. Done. Terminado.   Twenty six and .2 miles on my own two running feet for 4 hours, 37 minutes and 40 seconds.   I have to say it was, in my 30 years of existence, one of the hardest things I have done.   Yes, harder even than birthing my 3 children.   And you know why? Cause they DON'T MAKE EPIDURALS FOR MARATHON RUNNING!   And judging by the people dropping like flies at about mile 20, I'd be a rich woman if ever I would invent it....
Countdown Monday, February 27 2012
By this time next week I will hopefully be (knock on wood....cross your fingers...kiss your thumbs...) sitting at Cafe Maspero in New Orleans eating fried calamari and patting myself on the back for a job well done.   In less then a week I will be attempting to run 26.2 miles....continuously.....just to say that I did...
Sister Sledge Saturday, February 25 2012
I miss my big (little) sister.   She lives far far away.   Sometimes I wish I could just walk down the street and visit with her.   I wonder what she's doing right now?...
